Großen Bart
Großen Bart (which is German for “big beard”) opened their doors at 1025 Delaware Ave in 2014. Aptly all of their beers are named for facial hair styles and they even host a Beard of the Month competition.
In addition to a hefty tap list, Großen Bart hosts a weekly rotation of live music and trivia on Tuesday nights. Their back patio is family and dog-friendly with a nice long runway for a game of cornhole. Recently, in an effort to support gluten-sensitive drinkers, brewer Walter Bourque has started adding Clarity Ferm in their beers. According to Walt and the Großen Bart website, “The gluten protein present in beer is very proline-rich. Because this enzyme is a proline-specific protease, it chops up the gluten proteins so that people with sensitivities to gluten do not react adversely.”
You don’t have to sport a big beard to enjoy these big beers, but if you are the lumberjack type, be sure to pick up a batch of beard oil with your Chin Curtain I.P.A.
